I mentioned in a previous posting that I saw 2 Rothiemurchus Rangers using anti-midge nets that went down to the waist. I emailed the Rangers and was directed to their supplier at Lochcarron. They also commented that the nets were very good. I figured that if people that spent most of their summer working days exposed to midges, thought they were good - then they must be good! I ordered a net and have just received it - and it looks like the complete answer to midge protection! The net is like a smock that reaches to the waist and has arms with elasticated cuffs. The part that goes over the head has a zip across the top to allow your head to be exposed (I guess for when the midges give up!). The netting on the face is black for better visibility. It is very well made and at 17.95 is a bargain. I look forward to trying mine out (anyone for sending me some midges?).
