I am not sure how much prices drop on MTB when they bring out the next years
model so would appreciate any info on this.
Giant XtC EX 06 - RRP £999, currently selling for £799
Budget is £550. Am i ever likely to get this EX model or should i give up
now.

Give up now.
The lbs probably has a 30% markup on the current models, looks like they've
halved their markup on the 05 models. They aren't going to sell at a loss.
