  1. I currently work a pretty screwy schedule which, after a three hour daily
commute, affords me only two real days a week off to work out. Generally
these two days are back-to-back, although I am trying to get split days so
I can work out more evenly during the week. Currently I am working out
these two days a week, same exercises both days. I know this is less than
ideal, but am I likely to see any results at all with this sort of regime?
    Generally speaking, of course.

  2. I generally lift weights 2 or 3 times a week and have seen good
results. I would personally split your workouts into body parts,
especially if you are lifting on consecutive days. The split I use is
chest/triceps and legs/back. You could do things like abs and other
core work at the end of both or either workouts. On a 2 day a week
schedule I would say that you are going to need to have good intensity
for the workouts so that your muscles really get worked and get
stronger and grow the rest of the week.
My typical workouts (3 sets per exercise)
chest/triceps: bench press and/or incline press, chest flys, dips,
overhead press, sometimes tricep isolation exercises
Back/Legs: deadlifts, squats, sometimes power cleans, pull-ups or
    pulldowns, sometimes dumbell rows.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Good Luck,
    James

Yeah, but if you could even get an udjustable dumbbell and do something
for 20-30 minutes one or two other days it would help.

If you split half your body on one day and half on the other you can do
everything once a week. You can make gains this way even though as you
say its less than ideal. Due to schedule constraints for almost a year
now I've only been lifting once per week (per muscle) since I want to
work in a few cardio workouts during the week too. I was intending that
doing this I would just be able to maintain on the weights, but I've
continued to make gains -- just slower. Not a problem since I'm in no
rush and thought I was going to only maintain anyway.
