Looking to buy a new handle bar light for my bike. I had the Night Hawk from NiteRider. During storage the battery broke and now I am looking to get a new light. I could get a new battery, but this thing is old and I wasn't crazy about it when I used it. After looking through the postings on Mtn Bike Review I came away with the idea of possibly buying the TurboCat S32-S47. The main problem seems to knowing when to shut off the charger. Anyone have one these lights. Would you recommend it? Or, is something else you might prefer. Don't know what this light cost. Hoping not to spend much more than $300. If I find a superior product, I would spend more.
(Just a quick thank you for those who responded to my bike stand query. Ended up ordering a Performance Spin DoctorT Essential Workstand. I know it's not a Park, but I only need it for washing and cleaning the chain.)
I recently got a Turbocat S47 from Ebay for a little over $100.00, what a deal. I only had a chance to use it once so far, but I can already can tell it's a great system. Mine is a Nicad, and the run time is great as long as you don't use the high beam for too long. The low beam is actually brighter than the high beam was on my Marwi Kamikaze. It fits onto the handlebars better than any I've used (Marwi, Cygo), and you can remove it in an instant. Made very well. If you're concerned about overcharging, I would recommend plugging it into a timer. Brand new these things are over $300.00, but those who paid that amount think they got a good deal. One more thing: the people at Turbocat are very helpful and quick to respond to questions about the product. I don't know how it compares to Niteriders as I have no experience with them. Hope this helps.
A timer is a good but what happened to your math. Every Saturday after work, 2pm I hook up the charger to my Cygo Explorer. And by 8 am Sunday I unplug it. Been doing it since 99. I ride to work 5 days a week at 5am.

There are lots of good lights out there. Unfortunately very few with decent chargers and decent battery packs. You'd think they were all designed a thousand years ago in the last millenium. I suggest you try to find somebody that sells a system with a smart charger and NiMH batteries. NiMH is much less weight but most importantly they don't have the "so called" memory effect. Just plug 'em into a smart charger when you get home and leave them there until you go next time. When I say smart charger I mean a charger that will detect when your batteries are fully charged and switch over to a trickle charge. I believe modern Nite Rider systems live up to those specs and a few others. If you're looking into spending $300 you should absolutely *NOT* settle for a system that does not have a smart charger.
