Turbocat Lights

I used a Turbocat for years. There are a couple of features that I like.
The wiring is (or WAS - mine is at least 6-8 years old!) ordinary household
'zip' cord. The waterbottle battery case is designed for easy battery
replacement when it finally goes. The battery itself is easily rebuilt with
nicad D cells.

Mine is currently sitting in the toolbox, waiting for its second battery
replacement. I used surplus cells last time and they lasted about 3 years
in every day use.

I had only one problem, and that was when the first battery pack shorted
internally. It was toast and it took the charger with it. Water had leaked
into the battery. When I re-built it, I sealed everything with RTV and
reflective tape. A new 100 ma charger from Radio Shack was only a couple of
bucks.

I had a Turbocat some time ago. The one where you cut the notch in a
Cateye headlight and replaced the bulb with a higher wattage number
and were good to go with a new 6v lead acid battery. The system worked
great--battery, charger, wiring, mounting--but the Cateye headlight
didn't have the greatest pattern. I seem to remember swapping it out
for an old Brite Lite headlight that had a wider beam.
