tuning the bike cables

I try to keep the spokes less than one semitone apart on
each side, but this is the first I've ever heard of
tuning cables.

Careful. Some frame materials can't handle specific harmonic
vibrations.

I hope you have the right material.

I lace my wheels with the spoke not touching each other,
but crossed conventionally, then just drive the rim with a
piezoelectric transducer and tune all the spokes to
unison, and tie them to damp the vibration, but I don't
solder the ties.

Just kidding, but I could in my shop. Maybe one day I will.

I pluck my spokes with a credit card and even the tension
that way. My rear wheel right now is laced all clockwise
one side and all counterclockwise the other, as seen from
either side singly. Side for side, the right side pulls
and the left pushes. Amazingly, it's been stable for
hundreds of miles.
