Tufo tape

It's fine to lay it on top....as long as you don't have huge
gookie piles of glue.

That tape is good stuff!

I used it last year for both road and cyclocross. It worked
well on the road, then I had a flat so I put a new tire on
and added a new layer on top of the old residue, which
worked fine, until I did a real long race in the pouring
rain and found that gobs of glue were squashing out of the
sides of the tire. It made for an awful mess. I also used it
for cyclocross, it worked pretty well but started to come
loose in the really muddy sloppy conditions. Maybe I'm not
using it right. Overall, it's good stuff.
