im thinking about buying some race wheels, looking at the zipp 404's but unsure about whether to get tubulars or hp's any thoughts?

What sort of racing? Criterium? Longer road races?
If they're definitely gunna be 'race only' wheels, then I'd be getting tubulars. You can get some awesome tyres, and they are smoooooth. If you're racing on smooth roads, you have the option of riding tubulars at 170psi....ooooo baby, they flyyyy.
So, basically, tubulars give you more options.But......
If you're doing road races where you might have to fix you own punctures 20 miles from the start/finish line, then maybe go clinchers.

i'll be using them for triathlons, 40kms and up to 90kms, do you still think tubulars?

If you're really serious, then I'd be getting tubulars. You've just gotta check out what they use for time-trialing in the Tour de France. I'm pretty sure many of them use the Vittoria CRONO CS, which is 20/21mm, with a max psi of 200! You can't get this sort of quality with a clincher.

i just got a pair of 404 tub and i race crits and rr i was flying through the curves on 140 psi as per the manufacture of the zipps i tried to get a hold of continental to see what they recomend the pressure but no luck i have always race on clinchers and never felt so fast
