trunk racks for spoiler options

Saris Bones racks are the rack we almost always go to with
spoiler (AKA sporty trunk handle) equipped cars at the LBS I
work at. We carry 5-6 brands of racks and the Saris fits
more oddball situations than anything else we have.

GO to a store and try one. If any rack will clear the
spoiler it's the Bones.

I use the Saris Bones 3-bike rack on both my cars, a 1999
Miata and a 2001 Eclipse GT, both with rear spoilers. The
Saris clears the spoiler on the Miata without a problem,
with room to spare. On the Eclipse, the upper legs of the
rack barely clear the front edge of the spoiler, with
maybe about
1/4" of room to spare. What I did was a zip-tied a piece of
foam to each leg, (actually foam that was made for bike
frame-tube protection during shipping) so that it the
plastic leg of the Saris wouldn't rub the spoiler while in
transit. Works like a champ.

Note: The rubber feet on the Saris racks is pretty hard,
and *WILL* scratch your paint if you are not careful.
Make sure your car is CLEAN, and make sure you have a
good coat of wax on first. Or, just use some pieces
of shelf-liner (the rubber-net kind) cut to size.

I would suggest having gone through what I did, that you
purchase a trailer hitch and use a hitch-rack instead.
Easier to take on/off, and no chance of touching the paint.
