So I'm kind of new to fixing up bikes and I have an old bike that has a wheel which is totally out of true. I know that you have to tighten and loosen the spoke nipples to true the wheel. But there are just a few things. How do I know what the size of the spokes are so i can get the correct spoke wrench? and also which way do I even turn the nipples to true it right?
FWIW, bookmark the Park Tools website as they've got tutorials and instructions for performing just about any task on a bicycle that you could dream up. Likewise, YouTube is an excellent source of video "how-to's" for bike maintenance and repair.
Practice on a wheel you don't care about before attempting to true one that you do. It's easier to royally screw up a wheel then it it to fix it if you don't know what you're doing.
