Trek Repaint 5200

As far as I know, all paint removal on an OCLV is done by manual sanding; it's not safe to use paint-
removing chemicals on carbon fiber. We've had quite a few frames repainted over the years, with the
finished product looking equal to what you'd have on a new bike. They do an excellent job, but it's
not inexpensive.

Not sure, but the guy at Creative Cycleworks has done repaint jobs on a lot of carbon frames including Trek. He uses a plastic media for blasting which is a lot softer and safer when stripping Carbon.

No. Although the plastic media would not harm the carbon fiber, there really isn’t a reason to go
down that far since corrosion isn’t a factor. We’ll simply hand sand the old paint until the desired
base is obtained, apply several coats of sealer to hide the old color and paint away.>>
