hi
i'm looking at buying a trek madone vs kestrel evoke, and wondered if anyone could reccomend , or has had bad experience with either one?
i'm looking for a comfortable ride, low weight for very hilly rides and problem free maintanence.
any info will be really appreciated.
thanx,

I'd like to say that you're in a very enviable position, because I don't think you can go wrong with either of those bikes. I was in the same position a number of years ago, and I ended up chosing a Trek OCLV over the Kestrel of the day, mainly due to stiffness issues. I did go with the Kestrel fork though, because the Trek fork at that time was garbage.
Both bikes are completely different now though, so my experience is worthless to you. But I will say that I had to ride the bikes back to back before I could decide, and when I did, the difference was VERY noticable. If there's any way you can pull it off, try riding them on the same day, or if you can't, try to spend as much time on both of them as you can before you buy.
It might be a stiffness issue like it was for me, it might be a fit issue. But it's going to be a tough decision without a test ride. But fortunately, I don't think there's a bad choice between the two.
