Have just picked up a Trek Madone 5.9. Yeah! The one Lance used twice then went back to round tubes, but hey, I saved £1000 on this frameset. And is new out the box with full warranty.
So, am looking to build it up. Any equipment ideas? It is not a no holds barred build. I do have some budget, but want standard Pro Team kit. Complete Groupset/ Deda/ Campy or Mavic wheels...any other ideas??
One question I have is I really like The Dura Ace Chainset, so could I use this with Campy everything else? What about an alternative to Campy Carbon CSet? FSA? I want to keep it standard. No chopping bits to save a few grammes...
Ideas appreciated.
How do people rate this bike for riding? I have a petite 52cm...
if you want standard pro team kit get yourself the DA groupset, deda newton bars & stem, deda black stick seatpost, fizik aliante saddle, look keo pedals, and the wheels well either go for ksyriums, bontragers, or the new fulcrums.
general consensue on madones seems to be that they are very stiff, thats no bad thing for the duration of riding most of us do.
Sounds like it will be a very stiff frame. Consider getting some 'forgiving' wheels unless you are in very good shape and used to riding stiff frames... you might consider avoiding Ksyriums...
