  1. i have a trek authorized dealer offering me:

brand spanking new 04 model 5200 ultegra for $2050 (US-$)

    trek MSRP is $2700

most of the dealers in my area are at $2500 no negotiating. 😠

i was under the impression that most auth dealers held to the "very close to MSRP" pricing without offering substantial discounts EXCEPT for demos or other bikes that could not be offered for sale as "new".

i wasnt REALLY looking for the CF bike, but for $2k, im now rethinking the whole issue. 😕

i rode full CF's from trek, spec, and kestrel (and some kleins)
and was pretty well impressed with the output per input.

And what is your question? it looks like a very good deal if the bike fits you well.... and if you'd also like it then... I would think it's a NO BRAINER.

It's new right? from an authorized Trek dealer right?

  3. Shimana Ultegra is on it etc... just like the normal specs? Then go for it if it fits right.

Most places will not budge off of certain prices, others know if they give you a good price, treat you well, you will basically be a customer for life & they will come down off the normal price. We had an LBS out here running a buy one get one at half price for a while - that tells you that there is at least a 25% markup. For most retail buisnesses (aggregate inc bike shops, Sears, Best Buy's etc...) the markups go from 10% up to 80% on certain items with 50% being the average. I would estimate the markup being anywhere from 40 to 60 percent on most equipment in an LBS inc. bikes. Please remember that they have to factor in overhead, insurance, saleries, etc... into what they charge. You appear to have a screaming deal - so enjoy.
