Trek 930 chainset

Depends on how old it is, what gearing you have and how much you want to
pay.

There's so many combinations that a shop is the best place to answer
this.

No. It depends on what rear mech you have and which hub you have. Early
8 speeds sometimes need a slim spacer or a freehub body swap.

Take it to a shop, wait for intake of breath through the teeth and then
be prepared to pay about 50 quid for a Deore chainset, 17 for a new
bottom bracket to fit the new shape chainset if yours isn't the same
shape, 20ish for a cassette, 10-15 for a chain (get a SRAM PC58 - don't
bother with anything fancier)

Or you could just replace the chainrings but IME a set costs as much as
a Deore chainset.

There's a very wide range. What determines which ones you can actually
use is your bottom bracket, and it you're prepared also to replace the
bottom bracket the range is even wider. Essentially any mountain bike
chainset from the oldest to the newest (and from the cheapest to the
most expensive) can probably be fitted. Depending on how the chainstay
is shaped you may even be able to fit road chainsets (which typically
have bigger rings).
