Hey there! I'm upgrading from a Dawes Giro 200 and seriously considering a '07 Trek 5000 which I found for €1475 euro from a website in the UK (around US$1900). I'm in Ireland, and considering my local bike shop are selling the Trek 1500 for €1700, I'm pretty sure this is a fairly decent deal! Any advice on anything in this class which beats the 5000 for value? I'm a 19 yr old riding about 150 miles a week non competitively by the way.

Is the bike that you're refering to the TCT carbon frame?
If so,
I'd suggest you keep looking basing my opinion on aesthetics only.
Trek's 5000 is uglier than everything else...:o
