Trek 1000 or Specialized Allez?

I'm probably going to buy it from Evans, only because I want to pay interest free 6 months later. Perhaps it's worth waiting until they get LeMond in?

I have the Allez Pro, the black one from 2004. I'm 6'4" and also pretty heavy, so I got the 62cm. Love it, love it, love it! Very smooth riding and solid. I can't wait for my Acchilles Tendinitis to heal so I can ride it again.

Hi Paul,

Just jointed the forums and this is my first post. I'm recently getting back into cycling after a few years off. I just bought a new bike after researching them for a while. I narrowed my search to the Specialized Allex and the Trek 1000, so I thought I'd reply to your post.. I went to my LBS and took alook at both. The two are very similar in components and price. I didn't like the shifters on the 1000 since they had the thumb button to downshift which isn't acccessable when you're on the drops.

I wound up getting the Allez, the elite model. The upgraded components and aero-shaped carbon/Aluminum frame were well worth the small uplift in price in my mind. I've had it for a week now and love it. Awesone bike, climbs like a champ even with my 185lb carcass on it. BTW- I'm 5'9 and went with a 54 frame.

another vote for the allez... i bought an 05 allez comp this year and love it.

granted its a different bike that the pro, but i like the frame a lot ,and love the bike overall.
