  1. I'm shopping for my second road bike. My first bike was a Cannondale 1997 R500 which I loved and primarilly used for commuting (about 20 miles a day) in a city. I've been looking to replace it (it was stolen) and just test rode the Trek 1.2 and it felt like a dream. The price ($900) is a bit much for me so I tried out the 1.1 ($700) and it felt just as good. I was wondering what people's thoughts are comparing the 1.2 and 1.1 and how you all feel about Trek in general, I'm not familiar with the brand.

    Thanks!

  2. It looks like you get a lot for the extra $200: carbon fork (vs aluminum), triple crank, sora/tiagra components. If you ride 20 miles a day I think the 1.2 would be worth the extra cost. The carbon fork in particular will make a big difference in ride quality.

My wife has a 1.2 (a few years old). The geometry is fine and the overall quality is perfectly adequate. There are no red flags or anything, Trek is a mainstream company and the bike is worth the price. But the most important thing is if the bike feels comfortable to you and you enjoy riding it.
