Travel Trac RealAxiom V2

It's an OK but VERY limited unit. Unlike a computrainer you can't adjust any of the existing courses, you can't make any of your own courses, you can't use the handlebar unit to adjust tension for manual use and they screw you by charging $35 per additional course where dozens of 3d courses are free from Computrainer. I wish I would have stuck with Computrainer 😠 😠 😠

Did you end up buying this trainer? It looks comparable to a computrainer but obviously much cheaper. If so, let me know what you think.....thanks!

Though owning a Velodyne, a similar machine but one that's a lot older even if much more robust (and LOTS more expensive), I'm considering updating to the RealAxiom V2 because of the more realistic DVDs and its smaller and more portable size. What concerns me is its seeming lack of preprogramed tests, no data on its accuracy and the fact that most of the DVDs (I'm talkin' over 95% as far as I know) are simply hills that rise up smoothly. That's not very varied and, truly, it's easy just to create a smooth uphill resistance...not much fun.

I've read on the Net that the Axiom's heartrate monitor is too sensitive to outside sources of interference, something that it shares with my Velodyne. I also read that Windows has problems consistantly recognizing the Axiom's hardware but that this issue is easily resolved with a patch freely available from Microsoft.

I'm curious about wheel slipage when standing on one's pedals, stability when sprinting, and, like I wrote, consistancy in its accuracy and accuracy when measured against other known quantities under similar circumstances, meaning, does it truly simulate?

Trouble is, as far as I can tell, only Performance.com sells them in the states and, so, it can't be tried before buying. At least so far.

Anyone have one and knows enough to answer the above?

Sorry I didn't end up gettting that trainer. I just kept using my old trainer the mag trainer by cyclops.
