  1. In the latest sally against heart-unhealthy trans fats, the New York City
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has asked restaurateurs and
food suppliers to remove partially hydrogenated vegetable oils from their
    pantries.

Mental Hygiene, huh? Okay, whatever floats their boat. Wonder how they
feel about lard and suet? Mentally we've all been told these are bad
things. But then again, we were told eggs are bad, salt is bad, bacon is
bad... the list goes on and on. I'm not disputing the trans-fat thing, just
curious as to who decides what, when; then another study comes out and says
in Gilda Radner's best Emily Litella voice, "Never mind!"

Easy way to avoid this is to cook at home. Of course we can't always avoid
eating in restaurants, but I don't think the occasional foray into one would
    be tantamount to murder.
