  1. Greetings from the land of deep fried anything, cheese, and beer!

Just a couple of quick questions on starting a training program.

I am 38, and active. I weigh 168 lbs, but think I should loose around 10 more to feel "in shape" again.

I'm re-introducing myself to the cycling life after an extensive abscence. I am looking for any pointers on times, distances, nutrition to help me get started. As of right now, I'm riding every other day, avg spd of 16-18 mph for around 14-20 mi. My goal is to ride a century next year, and would like some advice on the pros/cons of either wind trainers or rollers.

    Thanks in advance.....EB

the main thing is you need to be consistent. make sure you do a long ride to increase your endurance. also watch your cadence (rpm)...

i use cycleops fluid trainer. you can ride inside so you can avoid your bike getting wet or dirty. and you can ride at specific intensity and time (interval). you can control your environment.

if you use a trainer, it's not good for your tire. it gets boring[I][U] sometimes it gets hot so you need a fan to cool you down.

    best luck,
