  1. Hi everyone,
I am wanting to improve on a number of areas within my training.
Firstly, I am 56 years YOUNG!!
I am very fit with a weight of 65 kilos and height 5'6"
4 years ago I had my first heart attack (hereditary), followed by a second 18 months ago, after 3 operations I am now fully fit (I was before the attacks) and am doing around 100 150 miles per week, mainly for leisure/charity rides etc.
I am not into any sort of racing, have been cycling/gym for around 25 years.
    my plea for help is:
What should my maximum heart rate be for my age?
    Is it 220 - age?
How far can I go above my maximum?
How do I improve on hill climbing?
NB: I am good on the flat but I always get dropped on hills.
How do I improve on my average speed (around 16 - 17mph)?
    I would appreciate your advice/suggestions.
    Cheers
    Paul
