As I am likely to be given the OK to put my full weight on my leg at last, after 8 weeks of enforced inactivity, I'm getting ready to turn these crutches into scrap metal. Yeah!! But walking is one thing, methinks it's unlikely the physio will give the OK to get on the bike and train up for some more MTBO, nor head off on a tour of the High Country :-{
I'm lamenting the wasted state of my poor right leg, and keen to do something about it. So, the obvious answer is to get a wind trainer to lock the bike into and spin away the hours at home with a low risk of falling off.
My question is, does anyone here (in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne) have a wind trainer that they may be willing to loan to me for a few weeks. I'd like to use one that you can simply lock the back wheel into, like the ones made by Minoura. I know I could simply buy one myself, but these things are about $200-300 and my approach to cycling doesn't usually include lots of indoor training. Alternatively I may be interested in buying a second hand one at a reasonable price. Let me know if you can help - any fair compensation will be considered.

Peter,
I have one collecting dust I think at my parents place, Id actually be pretty keen to get rid of it, just never really thought about it until I read this post, I believe it is one of the ones that you lock the back wheel into, I think it has been used all of twice, if youre interested let me know and I can find out the model so you can check to see if it meets all your needs

I have a trainer that gets used so seldom that I could lend it to you no problem. It's a simple magnetic tyre driven type & should suit your needs.

Definitely interested in this. Where are you? I'm in Vermont South. Let me know what type of trainer it is, and what you'd like to do with it (ie loan or sale to me). Email me off list, then I'll give you my details.

Thanks very much for the offer. That sounds just the thing, I assume it is one that holds the back wheel in a clamp. I'm in Vermont South and I believe you live somewhere in Melbourne. Contact me off list and we'll make some arrangements re. me borrowing it (if that's still OK)
