I have a brand new kurt kinetic fluid trainer . I know it's a good trainer.
I had an old michelin tire on it. It was flattening the center (making the
tire not round in the middle). I set the tension like the manual says to. I
made the tire touch and then gave it two additional turns. That is supposed
to be ideal according to the manual. So, I tried a differnet tire
(specialized armadillo) and only made it so the tire just touched . It still
was taking off rubber in a couple spots. I assume this means the rim is not
true. I just had it trued. It is not perfect, but I think it is not bad
either. It is defenitely rideable. So i tightened the tension a little more
cause I gave up and it ws too easy to ride(I would have to put it in the
hardest gears). Now I noticed the wear is more consistent on the tire (the
rubber wearing). Is this just a out of true wheel? Thanks a lot

perfectly true and if you have low pressure on it the high spots will naturally
wear first.Ron

Continental is now selling a trainer-specific rear tire. Nashbar stocks it.
