  1. When using a trainer on the days you can not get outside, do you use your every day wheels. And when warming up on your trainer before an event do you do so using your race wheels? When I purchased my trainer I was told I should always use an old tire on my rear wheel. Now I have a wheel for my trainer, and everyday wheel for training outside and a race wheel.

If I know I will be using the bike on the trainer for several days in a row (i.e. winter & there's snow on the ground) I use a wheel with an old "trainer tire." If I'm just going to use the bike on the trainer for one day (i.e. rain, etc.), I'm lazy and leave my normal outdoor training wheels on. For race warm-up I would use my race wheel. I say "would" because 90% of the time I train and race on my PowerTap rear wheel, so its more correct to say that I do not switch to a special "old trainer wheel" for race warmup.

  3. I just go with the summer tire, and use it in winter on the trainer. In spring I get a tire for the season ahead, anyway.

  4. Got a Continental Ultra Homertrainer. It's doing well on the Computrainer.

  5. i just keep all the old summer tires around just for trainer purposes.
