Was coming home tonight at about 1720h or so and I saw a lady riding on Wellington Rd (Clifton Hill end) with a kid on one of those trail-a-bike thingys. I usually think that these are a great idea but in this case I wasn't quite so convinced. It was getting pretty dark at this time of evening and although she had a red flasher on her seatpost, there was no light on the trail-a-bike. From directly behind, the kid on the trail-a-bike totally blocked the view of the light!!!!
Unfortunately I was going the opposite way from her so I didn't get a chance to make a friendly suggestion to either get a second light for the trail-a-bike or to transfer the one from her bike. Let's start thinking peoples......
On the bright side, both the lady and her child were wearing helmets and there was an orange flag on the trail-a-bike that I reckon would be quite visible during daylight hours.
We have one and love it - absolutely fantastic way to get the kids around on rides that would otherwise be too long, however, there is no way I would be using it at that time of night on a road.

Yep the only time I've used it at night is with lights and on the footpath. That's teh only time I feel safer on the footpath.
