Very good area despite the pylons, and few people. Never approached Tal y
Fan by that route, your description should be useful - don't worry about
it being verbose, that's a good level of detail.
Dare I say it - we did the North Wales Path years ago. The only good parts
were the hills around the Sychnant Pass and the area around Aber Falls,
both of which we already knew. And you do get funny looks walking along
the prom in Rhyl with a large backpack and trackster tights.

Thanks for the positive response.
As for the ponies. I'm waiting to see what happens legally.
If there is a chance they will be culled, i'm willing to stump up the first
£75, have some local media contacts, and set up a charity to help them out.
After all, they are a wild breed, and macrofauna at that (as in obvious
animals!). They should, and WILL, be protected.
My worry is that the NT, isn't doing a thing anf they own a great chunk of
these hills.
