I had a walk up to Sour Howes and Sallows today, the weather started of dull and overcast and amazingly came clear in a very short space of time with sunshine and blue skies! The clouds lifted completely off the Coniston range and Red Screes/Caudale Moor during the walk. It was much better weather than yesterday when I did a circuit of the fells above Loweswater where the clouds never lifted at all during the day. Photo's are posted:
Of particular interest to me as I'm starting my round of Wainwrights by concentrating on the Far Eastern fells..
They can prove addictive, and slow your round down! Added to that, they are so close to the M6 that access is very good for most people. It's a smashing area. Longsleddale at dusk in the moonlight by the camp fire, Mardale in the mist, Martindale on a summer morning - superb!
Thats the major factor, when travelling to/from Scotland it does fit in the schedule nicely to have a couple of hours on the fells to break the journey.......
