Another circuit of Lower Eskdale to salvage a couple of days from the wettest July for decades. It was largely dull and overcast but the morning at the tent pitch was superb and more than compensated for the dull skies later.
We had been promising ourselves a pitch on Hard Knott for ages and the weather rose to the occasion: it was among the finest morning views we have ever had in the summer months, including a lovely inversion over the sea and valleys to the south with Harter Fell peeping through the cloud.
