Had a wonderful time on Saturday up the classic Skye Corbett. Parked near the Moll turn off east of the peak and worked our way up the steep grass. Just below the cliffs, one is on a very steep grassy slope with a long way down! My inexperienced friend didn't like it at all. We started to traverse up and left to avoid the recent bouldery junk that had come down the central gully, then cut back right below a big rock. A good line. The outlying top is nice and the ridge is superb. A totally different mountain than the Sligichan side. I then had my usual battle with drifting mist while I filmed a panorama. It would clear, then fog it, then clear. Finally as we got ready to go down it cleared off nicely 8-) and 8-( Superb views and a much more substantial peak than it looks. For the descent, we followed the ridge back east to its low point and headed north to the obvious nose. we turned the nose on its right and descended a long slope of scree and loose rocks. If you are comfortable with scree this is a great way down and much better than the steep grass slopes. we dropped directly towards the road. When we hit the power line, friend took my pack down to the road while I cut cross country to retrieve the car. This route isn't in the book but seems to be the quickest if you are comfortable with scree.

Report sound great Rob, hoping to get the two on Skye this summer, possibly en route to or return from Harris via Uig so may have to wait for a long weekend.
Just got back from a week in France last night but a family holiday so no real walking for me ;-( A lovely 900 drive yesterday though make a trip to Skye seem very short !

Will probably follow your steps as I did not like the look of the incline of the slope from Sligachan last time I was there and actually enjoy the scree ( having both ascended and descended the Great Stone Shoot )

yes, the twin Corbett counts as only one. So you have to ascend 219 hills, but only get credit for 218. I did a recount last night (after doing Glen Dessarry Carn Mor in the heavy rain, TR to follow). Should be: 183/218 8-) Rob

Ooops! a bit brain dead here. That should be 219, not 218. my excuse and I'm sticking to it: I'm so used to remember # of hills-1 that I then remembered the right number and subtracted one again! who edited that guide book anyway 8-) sorry to scare you all ... cheers, Rob 284/284 184/219 5/7

Thanks Rob, I often have a recount just to make sure.
You are almost exactly 100 ahead of me and at the rate you seem to be going just now I expect you are looking at finishing sometime next year ?
