Fairfield North 2-day backpack report/photos uploaded from Sunday and Monday.
A Fairfield Horseshoe from the North, approaching via St. Sunday Crag and returning via Hart Crag, Dove Crag and Little Hart Crag. The first day was clear, sunny and calm with fantastic views, and the first ice had appeared on the pools.
What a contrast with the next morning. Having noted the MWIS forecast of strong winds for the second day - we pitched on the sheltered side of Dove Crag and a real gale got up in the night.
Might be some good weather later this week too, maybe some snow we hope...

Good heavens no!. We are at the other end of the scale in fact, we don't know any other walkers at all in person, only by email etc.. We are (fairly) well known for spending days on end backpacking in the god-forsaken wildernesses of England and Wales in summer just to avoid them. Sunday was exceptional when we saw quite a few people on Fairfield, the most for years.

I was on Fairfield on Sunday too, the "traditional" horseshoe from Rydal, what a gorgeous day it was, especially after spending most of Saturday up in the clouds at Coniston.
