  1. Left the car at Strathan at 9 am and headed off up the track towards
A'Chuill bothy. Just past the bothy and the edge of the forest we
followed the stream upwards onto the long and undulating ridge heading
west. Snow was lying fairly deeply but was in good walking condition
without the need for either axe or crampons. the wind was light and
the falling snow was also light and dry so all in all just about
perfect walking conditions. A good scramble up through the crags and
snow gullies onto the summit rewarded us with excellent views under
the now blue skies. We decided just to drop back down into Glen
Dessary via the deep corrie of Alt Coire an Eich. The walk back out
the track was easy arriving back at the car at 2:30pm. Had a look at
Bidean a'Chabair on the way down and it also looks like a great hill
if a slightly longer day than today. Good to get back into the
bigger days and rougher hills though.

It is a long day, and well worth saving for a good day. You can cycle in
past the bothy all the way to a bridge at the end of that track.

Question: did you feel that the cairn was on the highest point, or the
    rocks about 50 feet south?
I had a good look when I was there ...

I've been off winter climbing, but hope to get another one done since the
Sat forecast is much too rotten for climbing,
    cheers,
    Rob

We did have a discussion about the highest point but did not put the
    GPS on it ;-(
When you stand on either outcrop the other one looks higher ! In fact
a large boulder about 10 feet away from the cairn looked higest to me.
i was on all of them anyway ;-)

Not seen the forecast yet, but a miserable morning here in Crieff ~
and I have a cold ! Probably no hills for me this weeekend. Is the
climbing part of the Everest prep, and if so how are the plans going ?

    Cheers

Training is going well. after a week of climbing at Glenmore Lodge and
breaking trail in deep snow with a heavy rucksack, I'm pretty fit 8-)
Main gear all organised now, so almost ready.
Just 3 weeks to go now ....

Did Beinn Loine in Glen Sheil yesterday. I had been waiting to do this
with a mtn bike, but finally its day came. Some snow, but nothing too bad.
nice walk, but pretty rough once you leave the main track. Under 4 hours
rt even without a bike, so a good half day if you are in the area 8-)

    cheers,
    Rob

It is exactly as described. Did it on a psychoday whenthe nearby
    bigger hills were "uninviting"

Very rough but short... Must try the eastern approach - that ridge
    looks fun
