  1. Had a good walk over Bowfell yesterday. Started in the ODG
car park (£4 ??) in the morning. Weather OK, all peaks in
view but high cloud level. Not saying we ran up the Band
but was reasonably happy in reaching Three Tarns in an
hour. Snow level started at Three Tarns. Very hard and icy
especially where people had walked but not bad. Five people
on the summit when we arrived. First bodies seen that day.
Had a break on the summit, good views all round
particularly of Scafell Pike. Set off to Esk Pike snow
quite crusty on this side of Bowfell but still good walking
conditions. Walk up to Esk Pike in similar condition to
that of Bowfell. Good view of Esk Hause which looked like
Piccadilly Circus with people all over the place. Dropped
down off Esk Pike to Esk Hause and joined the rush hour
crowds and so back to the ODG via Rosset Ghyll and
Mickledon. Car park now full. Enjoyed a pint of Black Sheep
in the ODG and back to St Helens in time for tea.

Good day out. 5.5 hours to do the round but taken at an easy
    pace to enjoy the views.
