Yesterdays trip only took son Mark and myself as far as Ben Ledi, about a 30 minute drive from home. We decided to take in Benvane on the same trip so started at Brig o'Turk and parked up beside the Glen Finglas reservoir road end where there is space for about 10 cars. An easy start to the day along tarmac track then up onto Ledi via the Gleann Casaig track. The slope to the summit is steady rather than steep and we made the summit two hours from the car. didn't see a soul all the way up but popped onto the summit to find about 4 or 5 groups and more visible coming up the route from the Pass of Leny. The views were excellent, right down to the Pentlands, across to the Cobbler and all points North. A quick break then a super high level walk for about 6k or 1.5 hours. bit of height loos but nothing to dramatic and a very open feeling to this ridge. The old March fence goes pretty much all the way but with a few corners that can be cut. The summit of Benvane is also nice and open, and far below Loch Lubnaig and the Glen Finglas Reservoir were both chocolate brown, no doubt from this weeks landslips and torrential rain. The weather was excellent for walking, light breeze, good sun and just a little chilly now and then. the long south ridge of Benvane completed a circular walk bringing us down to the foot of Gleann Casaig. Back to the car after an excellent local walk and 6 hours of good hill exercise

Was up Lammer Law yesterday and was treated to a fine view of Ben Ledi, the Arrochar Alps and various big Perthshire things.
Should have waved!
Best of all was the view of Kirkcaldy through the bins... With a nice big Schiehallion towering above it. Funny angles do play about with familiarity.

A nice 'alternative' is to go from Callander to Balquhidder over these two tops!
