.. Sounds a wonderful place for cycling and not cycling. Really looking forward to

A tip for Ely. As a child my gran and I sat on a bench outside the=20
cathedral and ate lunch. We were _mobbed_ by pigeons! Hundreds of the=20

Ely also has a cycling plus in the form of D-Tek cycles who are based in=20
Little Thetford (Just outside Ely). Kevin has a large selection of=20
recumbents and used to offer a service where by you paid some amount=20
(=A325 IIRC) and got to try a selection of bikes. He'll also hire you one=
=20
(Or more) and he does have trikes. Google for D-Tek cycles and you'll=20
get a phone number for him (He's resolutely a luddite when it comes to=20
the internet!).

On a recent Cambridge visit a friend took me to Ashwell in his motorcar.
Ashwell was precisely the sort of place we'd be looking to find, and it
had a wonderful restaurant. Ely also comes to mind with its Old Fire
Engine House and its Cathedral. More of the same....?

Oh, and hoping to get a chance to meet Helen on that occasion. I should
be able to park the ancients for an afternoon or so if they are happy
with their setup.

Hi,

Blakeney on the north Norfolk coast is a nice place, a small fishing village with a few nice pubs and a real refreshing feel, they also do boat trips out to see the Seals. Holkham a few miles west of blakeney has a lovely beach, wide expanse of sand and dunes surrounded by a pine forrest. Very natural and not normally busy as its well off the beaten track, the entry to the beach is easy to miss. If your interested the car park for the beach is off the coastal road almost opposite the entrance to Holkham Hall. Definataly worth a visit if a nice day, but it is a good 15min walk from the car park through the forrest to the beach, whether that is subtible for you I dont know.
