  1. Jóse Ramos Horta was on ABC radio this afternoon, yes he is a cyclist,
    '
he mentioned an up-coming event close to his heart

    The Tour de East Timor

didnt hear it all, but it is a tourism promo where riders will be put up in villages on the way overnight and entertained in East Timorese cultural ways and absorb the local ways as they ride the tour over about 9 days.

details from their consulate in due course,

here is their toursim link, nothing up yet, but he wants to promote heavily and encourage as many Aussies to come over and ride it...guess it is a public event not a pro-tour thing and probably heavily off road and mountains were mentioned of 2 & 3,000 meters...and beaches too

could be a buzz if you have the time for exotic tropical fun of a biking kind...in a new country

  2. I heard the same interview and was amazed how quickly I forgot about the riot deaths as soon as he mentioned a bike ride , how shallow. I particularly liked how he has personally donated two buffalo each night for the evening feast!
