I rode TBC in 2002 and 2004. I liked it, and would recommend the ride.
The 2005 route (Candian Rockies, Banff, etc.) sounds good, although I
have already been through this area, so am not riding this year.
It's a small group -- 120 riders in 2002, 60 in 2004. Somewhat older
-- I'd guess median age of about 50. Lots of repeat riders. Costs
have crept up with the declining US dollar, and this may have been why
there were much fewer US riders in 2004. Also, not to stereotype here,
but everyone was really *nice*. Is that a Canadian thing, eh?
I would call the route "moderately challenging" both years I went.
Maybe a 6 out of 10. Comparable to the newer (easier) editions of
Cycle Oregon, and definitely easier than Pedal The Peaks.
I would also strongly recommend taking a few extra days for some hiking
in Banff and/or Yoho (sp?) parks. It is an incredible area.
