Dear Gerrit,

Would this be metric football?

Regrettably, a friend and I were discussing anti-Dutch
epithets recently because another friend's wife from
Holland had a beaver trapped and killed to protect her
garden in Utah, so I'm not sure yet whether to root for you
windmill-worshipping, polder-draining, dike-plugging, canal-
skating, diamond-cutting, wooden-shoe-wearing, tulip-
hoarding, vowel-doubling beaver-snuffers over the cork-tree
killers from Portugal.

Welcome to the joys of off-topic posting!

Xenophobically yours,

Carl Fogel

Metric football was replaced by SI football at the 11th
General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1960.

in another life i worked in academia with a group of mostly
american, german, dutch, japanese and russian scientists
(the dutch from utrecht and the germans koeln). the germans
always called the dutch "pfeffersack" (literally pepper
sack). germans insults have a weird kind of power.

.. but they sure don't translate well.

istr it referred to the famous dutch merchant trade (i
liked the image of big dutch guys with huge sacks of
pepper walking through koeln so much i still remember it
after 10 years).

i'm gonna go drink now. or maybe i already have. not sure.
the only person i have ever met who could outdrink me in
guinness was pfeffersack. many have equalled but only he has
soundly beaten me.

for that and more i say, "go pfeffersack!". they have my
vote.

Continuing with the xenophobism: Isn't soccer a communist
sport? Also, don't the french play soccer? The "I was
misslead" discussion proves that there is already a lot of
antiamerican sentiment by a bunch of french and arab loving
commies. Unless GW does something to put a stop to the
expansion of arab commies, we will soon be watching 22
people chasing a ball that they can only touch with their
feet. This is certainly not normal. It is the product of
children taken away from their parents at birth and
brainwashed only to love soccer and Karl Marx. We need a
huge tax beak so that powerful coprporations can use the
saving to build powerful anti soccer weapons.

By the way, I am from Argentina and we kicked Duth butt in
1978. You gor your revenge a during the french world cup.

Sounds typically Dutch to me; I don't care what you do as
long as you don't bother me in any way. The beaver should
have know that.

I didn't know the Dutch defeated anybody, including the
Swedes. Is this conflict conventional? Are they using any
airpower? Seapower? Are special forces involved? I thought
they were both NATO.......

Dear Gerrit,

Well, like Sweden, the beaver knows not to mess with the
Dutch now.

My theory was that she was simply jealous of the beaver
and could not bear anyone else building dikes or dams in
her vicinity.

I won't be shocked if her neighbor's ornamental windmill is
vandalized or if their tulip bulbs vanish one dark night.

There is an obscure country between Canada and Mexico that
still strongly resists using SI units.

I guess you are a Dutch guy and all that so please pardon me
when I say that the real story is Greece beat France, which
may be the biggest upset ever in the European Championships.

Americans without expensive cable and satellite packages
will not be able to see Clarence Seedorf work his magic, so
they just make fun of what they do not understand.

Like the saying goes... You can always tell a Dutchman. But
you can't tell him much.
