Geez. In DownTown Toronto yet I got to race two consecutive days last
weekend.
Things are sure looking up, even if the events were in honour of ''Bike
Week'' and even if one was a Messengers Relay Race and the Road Race was
in a park and had a lovely 90 degree right hander onto a standard 2 meter
wide bike path coming off a screaming descent and even if there were only
two men's races run similar to the old BLRC days when you'd see Pro, One,
Two, Three and Junior events and if you were lucky they might run it as an
Australian Pursuit 🙂
But what the heck, a bike race is a bike race is a bike race, especially
these days in Toronto.
And as icing on the cake, there were five women in the Women's road race,
they gave away a bike (albeit an MTB) to the winner of the Mens race, my
Bike Week T-Shirt wasn't four sizes too big this year, and (as of now
anyway) the CHIN Canada Day Picnic race is back on the scene, although I
doubt we'll see the modern eqivalent of the Van Steenbergens and Phinneys
that have raced in Toronto in bygone days 🙂
