  1. Hello all,

My cyclo-cross frame has all cables routed along the top tube and a small plastic pulley wheel low down on the back of the seat tube to allow use of a standard bottom pull road front mech.

I think this is a potential mud trap and would like to use a top pull mech with my Dura-Ace STI's, thus eliminating the need for the pulley.

Is it true that Shimano MTB mechs are incompatible with road levers and if so, are there other mechs (eg. SRAM) that would work?

    Cheers!

  3. MTB front deraillerurs that shift three chainrings are not compatible with road bike double chainrings. Therefore if you have a road triple chainring up front and use a MTB der it should work. However you results will be sloppy if you use old school 7 spped front der's. with 9 spped shifters. There are alot of cyclocross setups that use STI shifters with MTTB der's. they work just fine.
