Top mount 'cross lever question

  1. Has anyone tried to use regular old mountain bike levers for this? The LX levers look like they
    could be adapted so the cable would pass through to the drop bar levers. I'm thinking of using LX or
    XT or XTR lever/shift pod combo for top mount levers and shifting. I know, your'e thinking why not
    just go flat bar?

    The problem is the mismatch in mounting diameters. Modern drop bars are generally 15/16" (23.8 mm)
    diameter, while MTB type levers are intended to mount on a 7/8" (22.2 mm) bar.
