John I suggest you go to your local library and take out some bicycle repair books. The Haynes Manual quite impressed me. Bicycle repair is not rocket science, but of course it has to be said, some people have no aptitude for things mechanical.
The tools that I have, have been built up over 45 years of cycling and indeed I have some that are that old. So good value for money I would say!
Everything is daunting to begin with but unless you can do some mechanical repairs its an expensive sport to be in.
