Set off home tonight, had a great whizz to the bottom of the hill only to remember I'd left my laptop in the office. Grind all the way back up to collect it :-(
Then on a short steep climb a dejected rusted chain was lying in the road having obviously given up on someone.
Then on a nice whizz downhill and young numpty pulls just past me with left indicator going and slowing to make his left turn. Human voice Mk I creates a quick change of heart and he's left stopped in the middle of the road. Phhewwww!
Other than that an uneventful ride home!

Usually I have fairly uneventful rides. Yesterday I had several of those "pull parallel to the right to turn left" moments. Plus someone who resolutely refused to let me pull into the right lane in enough time to make the turn (took an alternative route in the end). Plus "yoof" who threw a bottle at me. Plus three instances of "pull out to overtake *after* passing". They were all out yesterday.
:-(
As I say, *usually* OK. Don;t know what happened yesterday.

My ride home on Tuesday ended up being far longer than usual; no trains due to the entire Leeds/Bradford/Ilkley/Skipton schedule being cocked up after a lorry demolished a level crossing near Keighley, so no alternative but to ride the whole 12 or so miles back from Bradford city centre, including the fairly tough hill between Baildon and Guiseley (no cycling kit with me as it's normally a short trip each way, so all done in work clothes and ordinary shoes). Nice weather for it, though!

I used to find that my worst days for commuting were those immediately following bank holidays and the first two or three days after the schools reopened after holidays. They were definate "lunatics outa the asylum" days.
