  1. Ozzie:

I wish I could have been attending your Sunday Morning runs at
Mission Bay for the past couple of months. I know I went out with
you guys a 2 or 3 times in November. On December 1st my
cardiac arrhythmia came back with a vengance, so I cut back
on running to only 2 or 3 miles twice a week. After a few weeks
I stopped entirely. So now I'm quite out of shape. The arrhythmia
continues, but not as severe. I figure it's best to take it easy until
    it gets a lot better.

Anyway, we're leaving San Diego next week until October. Hopefully
I'll be able to join you guys again at that time. Say Hi to your wife for
    me.

  2. Randy,

Sorry to hear about your arrhythmia. Are you off all caffeine?

What meds are you on? What are some of the thoughts of your
    cardiologist?

    Have a good RV travel!

I composing this on my tablet computer-writing my message to you. It
has pretty gone recognition of my writing.

In health and on the run,
    Ozzie

I never consumed much caffine. A cola drink or chocolate now and then.
I've been doing quite a bit of research and it looks like low levels of
potassium, magnsium, or calcium can cause arrhythmia in some people.
I'm not sure that was the situation in my case. Electrolyte balance is
pretty important, particularly for runners doing serious workouts.

They first tried a beta blocker which had no beneficial impact at all, and
it lowered my blood pressure too much. I ran a bit while taking it and it
slowed me down dramatically. That last time I actually ran was a test to
see how fast, or slow, I could run 1 mile. I ran it in 6:40 when I was in
good enough shape to run 6:10 to 6:20. That was over a month ago
and haven't run since. Now they're trying an anti-arrhythima drug called
tambocor, which is showing some potential.

My gut feeling is that there is some underlying cause of this problem
because I'm also having mild headaches and an elevated pulse. Sometimes
I'll be sitting and having the arrhythmia and my pulse will be 80 when it should
be 50 - 55. I get the impression that they're treating symptoms rather than
the underlying cause, particularly since I had a night time leg cramp two days
    before this all started.

Hope to see you guys again in October.

    Randy
