  1. I'm thinking about getting new tires for my Diamondback road bike. Anyone have any ideas on a good tire. General touring is the main plan for this summer.

I cycled from Tokyo to London (totally by bicycle with no assistance) with Schwalbe marathon 700c tires (touring bike).
I now ride a road bike and use Schwalbe blizzard tires (700-23).
Crossint the world with the marathons was really great, few flats even in the rough areas of China etc. and they lasted about 10,000 k's each.

I am thinking of riding from Cape town to Vladivostok and will use these tires again.

    Go for the marathons...

  3. I have some IRC Road Winner II Duro on my bike. They are 700 x 28, but their actual width is closer to 25mm, so they fit fine on road bikes with side pull brakes. They were cheap, and they ride well. I have had only one flat. If your bike has side pulls, then they would be a good deal. If your bike has cantilever brakes, then it might be better to get something wider for touring.
