  1. What is the anti p******e stuff that they put in off road tyres, and do
    you rate it?

I got a big bit on pine tree in my tyre today and green gunk was leaking
everywhere! No chance of tyre staying up, well pushed it to our picnic
place, as it was at the top of Dyfi and by the time we had rested pumped
up tyre and it stayed up till we got home!! I was v. Impressed as I have
never done anything to this bike and it is 9 years old now, I know it
was advertised as having junk in tyres.

Now going shopping for new tyres and inner tubes.

My friends who race mountain bikes seriously use it and rate it; and this
is more surprising since they're all avid weight weenies, and wouldn't
have anything on the bike that didn't earn its place. However, they all
    also use tubeless tyres.

I've not used Slime for many years because it makes an awful mess and tends
to stick your inner tube to the tyre, but with tubeless it definitely
    seems to make sense.

I have the Tufo stuff on both Road and Cyclo Cross bikes. (Clincher
Tubular tyres) I don't think I've had any p*nct*r*es in the last
    eighteen months.

  4. Yup - my front tyre went this morning leaving green gak everywhere. Probably
far more astute to get appropriate tyres for your journey rather than a gunk
filled innertube as this is the second one for me that's split from a small
piece of glass, which for me is the most common puncture method. Important
to know that goo is next to useless for glass punctures.

Big thanks to bike shop guy for insisting semi-slicks would be great for
    path cycling. grrrr.

Was quite a disturbing sequence of events actually - 7 miles out from work,
running late as it was, middle of bloody nowhere doing 25 mph and panting
like a dog. Tyre goes. I go [censored] over [censored] into a clump of nettles, place my
right hand into a fly-covered pile of dogpoo then watch as my innertube
leaks out ghostbusters slime over the inside of the tyre and the rim. To
compound my misery, the jogger that I passed 5 mins back jogs back past me
    chuckling at my misfortune.

    Cruel, cruel world.
