Recently i have started time trialling and even though i usually finish about 5-6 minutes down on the winners i really enjoy it. I would however like to know if there is a good way to train for time trials. I have heard interval training is quite useful, is this true? (it makes no sense to me!😕 ).
If its useful i weigh 68 kg and i'm 6 feet tall.
Thanks
For time trialing, you will want to focus on threshold, 2X20 is pretty standard. You would also benefit from V02 intervals, at around 3-6 minutes in length.
No need to work on sprint or anaerobic intervals, since your event requires steady state efforts.
Also, when you are doing your intervals, make sure to work on them in your TT position, if possible. Muscle recruitment is slightly different, so you'll want to get your body used to producing threshold power from that position.
