I bought a pair of Time Impacts because 1) my Look 357s were driving me nuts from all the creaking and 2) I could use the reduced stack height to lower my saddle vis-a-vis the bars.
Well, unlike the Looks, the Time Impacts don't allow the cleat to be mounted in any way other than straight?? My right foot needs to be able to point outward a little. Sure the float allows that, but there's tension there that makes it uncomfortable. The result is my knee brushes the top tube now and then.
Am I missing something? Do they indeed adjust somehow? If they do, I sure can't figure it out!!!
i had the old time equipe pedals and found that with the 3-hole look adapter you could get some rotation in how the cleats were mounted. not sure about the Impacts, though . . .
i now use speedplay x-series and love the free (non-centering) float.
I can get a little, which is probably enough. I also swapped the cleats to the opposite sides which helped, I think. Supposedly the things allow more/less float depending on which shoe you use them.
I think I'm heading back to Looks. Perhaps CX6. I'm just not a huge fan of float, and need to be able to get that cleat angle just right.
