  1. My neighbor showed me a bike that she has for sale for $100.
It's a 1980 Motobecane Super Touring Mixte that has NEVER
BEEN RIDDEN since it was brought home from the store. Vitus
double butted steel, Stronglight triple crank, Suntour VX
deraileurs, Mafac brakes, immaculate paint, all original
except the tires, even the braking surfaces are shiny. I
really don't need another bike, especially another 27" wheel
bike, but this one is so perfect it's hard to refuse. What
    could I do with it?

    I'll buy it.

    $200 and you pay shipping.

Hi, on the same topic, I just talked to a guy who has a 80's
Schwinn Peleton with Columbus tubing and Suntour components.
He says the bike is in great shape and well maintained. Also
claimed that it weighs about 16 lbs, I doubt that. He is
riding a recumbent now, back problems. I haven't seen the
bike, my guess is the frame size would be in the 54 -56
range. The owner of one of our LBSs told him that it isn't
worth anything, because it has down tube shifters. I don't
need and can't afford another bike, but I would like to give
the guy some decent info, on its value. Any info, will be
    appreciated.

    Life is Good! Jeff

If you can't bring yourself to ride it, then sell it on
eBay; I'll bet you'd beat $100 for it.
