I have Tiagra shifters on my tourer, and have no such problem. If=20 you're sure there's no debris
in the mechanism, it sounds like the=20 pivot on the inner lever might be loose (have too much
play), allowing=20 it to move out just a bit and catch the brake lever.
I was out last Saturday in about 34=B0, and noticed that the front was a=20 bit stiff on the
downshift, but I attributed that to stiff lubricants=20 in the cold weather. =20
I had no problems with the rear at all; I had just put a brand new=20 Ultegra 11-23 cassette in
place of the original SRAM 11-32, and wanted=20 to see if the shifting performance would be
changed, but I could=20 detect no differences. The wide-range Deore derailleur seemed to=20 handle
it just fine.
